Day 6 - Charge of the Light Brigade

Today's silent march from Gh-2 circle to Pathik Ashram in Gandhinagar was again a resounding success. It was symbolic of what over 2000 young medicos could do if they took to the streets. Our massive yet supremely disciplined infantry sent out a strong message to the politicians on their own home turf: "It''s high time to act! "

A memorandum quoting our demands and grievances was submitted to the offices of the Hon Chief Minister of Gujarat, the Finance Minister, the Health Minister and the Chief Secretary since none of them were available in person. Their response is eagerly awaited.

Rumormongers have resorted to dirty tactics of spreading misinformation in an attempt to create a rift amongst our ranks and to mislead the public. But we would like to assert that we stand united as one, as we always have been. Our sheer numbers speak for themselves. The battle is intensifying and it will be fought to the end.

Project the governments attitude towards all government employees. All knows that they r being paid much less in latest 6th pay than wt central govt. is offering in 6th pay. Bring this topic in the mind of people and they'll support us.
Anyways, be prepared for long hard battle and every possible outcome.United we stand and united we'll win. All da best to all.

  5. I have certain points to say....
    1) 6 days have already gone.there is no response from the govt. we must think of intensify the strike in terms of involving UGs and INTERNS..after all, they too are beneficiaries of increament in stipend.we must seriously think about it.we can have extra mass as well as extra impact by involving them.everybody feels so..

2)As the days pass, we have started facing attrition problems..students are escaping from strike. seriously think about it. it can be a big problem in next days. better prevent it from now.

3)there is lack of activities in other centres except ahmedabad..we should spread the movement acrooss the state. we should motivate the interns and U.G.s or any residents who r still in their respective city colleges to perform at least one activity to mark the protest.so that sound seems to come from whole state.

    4) we can get support of local M.L.A.s..we will definitely get it..we have got it in anti CET strike. it will make a difference in long run.

5)everyday,students should be given a dose of highly motivational speech by someone which can release adrenaline in us..at present.their motive seems to b decreasing.

6)Dont shut the parellel OPD off due to police..we should keep running it at any cost.WE SHOULD NOT SUCCUMB TO POLICE PRESSURE. LET POLICE FORCIBLY STOP IT N THEN SEE,PEOPLE'S SYMPATHY WILL BE DEFINITELY TURN TOWARDS US....please think about it.

7)dont ever believe our sirs. we have great experience of them during anti CET strike.

8)dont follow the rules imposed by the police very strictly. mild violation is necessary to keep the strike atmosphere alive....

please consider this points very seriously..
    jay ho.

  6. I am closely following this strike since first day of the strike. I think, now there is a stalemate. Govt of Gujarat is not talking to you nor none of the officer / minister met you on rally day. How long will you be able to remain united if no news or activities are visible to the striking doctors? Negotiations should never stop. You must understand that when Govt. made a committee to look after your demands and Health Secretary gave in writing that Stipend will be increased, then at that very moment the strike should have been called off. When a committee is constituted then How any single person, be it health secty. or even health minister can promise the quantum of hike. If he can promise quantum of hike than what is the need / sanctity of committee.
Now that opportunity is gone. You better now try to bring Govt on negotiating table by putting pressure thru media or opposition party or ruling party MLAs sympathiser to you or by any other means. Because it becomes very difficult to keep the flock together in a dull situation or stalemate condition. And now at this momemt when R 1 and R 4 are terminated you can not afford to break. So try to bring govt. on negotiating table and then withdraw the strike after getting termination letters withdrawn and an assurance of reasonable stipend hike in line with all other major states of India. Please do not ask for exact amount of hike now itself as in government procedures no one can give that. It is always the committee and its recommendations which are put up for acceptance to the cabinet.

  9. nirav, our response to ur comments..
    1) interns are part of our protest. if necessary undergraduates will be enlisted for support.
2)attrition??? we dont think so. just take a look at our camp at civil hospital!
3)ahmedabad is the EPICENTRE of all activity now since all residents are camping here.its also strategic because of its proximity to gandhinagar.
4)sure...including local MLAs is an option.
5)motivational shots are being given from time to time..spirit is high.
6)you re right. its our sincere attempt to keep parallel OPDs running. besides, we have tied up with NGOs and free mediacl camps run by our residents are on.
7)we are on our own...we have an army pal!
8)we go strictly by the book...sorry, no violations!(GANDHIGIRI reloaded)
keep writing in nirav...we appreciate ur efforts..

  12. We should go to private hospital, schools, govt offices to generate support. we should take votes in form of yes/no only. we have to show result to media who is neutral not against us. The things which media is not doing for us we should do that. It will show what part of people of a'bad are with us. Our work should reflect with glow. all the best to all of us. Jay ho.
